Dileep Permar

Dileep Permar is a photographer and cultural documentarian based in Nagarparkar, Sindh, known for his dedicated work capturing the natural beauty, cultural rituals, and everyday life of the Karoonjhar region. His photographs often feature the red granite hills of Karoonjhar, Jain temples, migratory birds, seasonal blooms, and the local communities of Tharparkar—including Meghwar, Lohano, Rajput, and Sodha populations.

Dileep’s work is deeply embedded in the landscape he calls home. He often photographs during key seasonal and religious moments—like the monsoon, which transforms the desert into a lush terrain, or during rituals at sacred sites like Sardharo and Bodesar. His images are not just scenic but also archival, offering visual testimony to the ecological and spiritual richness of the region.

He’s contributed to several local and international initiatives, including collaborating with artists, researchers, and platforms like Lahooti, Invisible Flock, and the Karoonjhar digital archive, where his documentation plays a crucial role in preserving endangered knowledge systems and sacred geographies.
